Job description
This role has a broad scope with specific procurement responsibilities for logistics. Developing the category management strategy for logistics across Latin America & Caribbean (LAC) for sourcing of warehousing & transport services.

Lead on the development of commercial logistics innovation and management of initiatives to deliver solutions to drive value across the logistics category. These will include contracts framework, SRM, and approach to managing inflation.



The role has accountability for seeking new ways of working with logistics providers across LAC as Diageo re-evaluates its route to consumer and assumes increased control over last mile distribution.

In addition, the role is responsible for leading the sourcing of all co-pack arrangements of contract manufacturers across the LAC region.

The role holder will work across multiple in-market procurement teams to resolve and remove barriers to expedite flawless execution of the strategies
Aspects of complexity include:
4 x markets consisting of 13 IMC’s
28 suppliers providing transport and warehousing services in the region
Multiple cultures and market dynamics
Diageo growth strategy will require fundamental changes to logistics networks, and expectations on suppliers as well as identification of new suppliers
Increased localisation of product requires an agile approach to identification and engagement of contract manufacturers


Key Outputs


Develop strategic category management approach to the logistics spend in LAC at optimum cost to support the strategies of the IMC’s delivering sustainable competitive advantage to Diageo.
Lead the development of best in class commercial logistics solutions across the Diageo supply chain. Work closely with the market teams to lead the design, development and execution of strategic sourcing outcomes and projects.
Lead the sourcing, negotiation and contracting of all contract manufacture arrangements in the LAC region, and support in-market procurement teams to lead sourcing projects.
Develop the category approach to SRM, inflation management, freight audit, and contracting framework to drive standardisation and excellence across the category.
Leadership responsibility for developing the LAC logistics category strategy including:
Ensure seamless leadership and stakeholder relationship with Market Supply Leadership team (SCDs, Logistics ), and HoPs for all category logistics matters
Deliver the category strategy across LAC and targeted savings plan
Effectively manage the category programme through great execution of the individual projects within the region
Source from the marketplace
Recommend final source/s & manage contracting process
Manage strategic elements of supplier relationships
Manage quality requirements to meet stakeholder requirements
Ensure risk to Diageo is minimised through – contractual coverage and contingency planning


Qualifications And Experience Required


University Degree in quantitative or commercially biased discipline
Purchasing qualification desirable (CIPS/MBA)
Must have 7 – 10 years’ experience which should include the following:
Significant procurement responsibilities in a blue chip organisation
Experience of logistics operations and working with 3rd party providers of logistics services, and an understanding of how logistics solutions are designed and developed
Experience in working with other key stakeholder functions e.g. finance, manufacturing, supply chain, marketing etc
Demonstrable leadership experience, e.g. leading projects; programmes; business units or line management
